About Us
Laura Hann
Hi, I’m Laura. I want to help you end your struggle with food and your body once and for all, so that you can find some peace, reach your health and wellbeing goals and live a life you truly enjoy.
I’m skilled in using a variety of common evidence based models, but I usually use cognitive-behavioural therapy for eating disorders (CBT-E), Schema Therapy, and CBT for Binge Eating.
I’m a Clinical Psychologist, a Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician (CEDC) and a Board Approved Supervisor. I’m a full Member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), the Australia and New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders (ANZAED), and a Verified Provider member of Size Inclusive Health Australia. All of that means that I’m very experienced and you’re in good hands.
I like to read, garden, do yoga and pilates, ride my bike and go for long walks. I have a cat and I also love dogs.
My Vision
Everyone can recover from disordered eating and body image distress, and every session makes a difference.
My Mission
I provide excellent therapy for adults and carers; professional supervision for colleagues; and education and support to my referrers and community. I educate the community about the harm caused by diet culture and weight stigma, and promote weight-neutral, Heath At Every Size (HAES) aligned care for every body.
My Values
Integrity
I practice what I preach, I model HAES principles in my own life, and speak up about weight stigma. You're safe with me, and you can trust me.
Ongoing learning
There is always something to learn in this ever-changing field, and I keep an open mind about new therapies or new approaches. I strive to improve the services in any way I can, to maximise the therapy experience and to support referrers.
Care
I care about you, and care for you. I know that people feel deeply ashamed about their eating behaviours, and their body. I also care for myself, have a manageable caseload and work part time, so that I can take good care of both of us.
